Father & Son

I received this in an email today. I don’t believe I will ever utter the words “I Can’t” again. This will forever be etched on my heart.

The email said:

A son asked his father, ‘Dad, will you take part in a marathon with
me?’. The father who, despite having a heart condition, says ‘Yes’.
They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and
son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying ‘Yes’ to
his son’s request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, ‘Dad, let’s join the Ironman
together.’ To which, his father said ‘Yes’ too.
For those who don’t know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever.
The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86
kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike
ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon run
along the coast of the Big Island. Father and son went on to complete
the race together.

Update to add:
Just to be clear I did check this out on snopes.com too.
Here’s the link to it:

It’s for real and the snopes link gives more detailed info than the email I received. Truly amazing!

Keep Walking

My post today comes from the VeggieTales. Yes Bob and Larry inspired me today. :) I do love those Veggies they are so cute! My children were small when VeggieTales burst onto the scene so we own the entire DVD collection. I still like watching them and so do my children.

Out of the blue today the song, “Keep Walking”, popped into my head. This song was in Josh and the Big Wall. I was looking for a video to add here so if you haven’t heard the song you could listen to it. However there are not any good ones available because of copyright issues. So I will let you look for that yourself if you wish. ;-)

Peas: Keep walking, but you won’t knock down our wall,
Keep walking, but it isn’t gonna fall,
It’s plain to see your brains are very small,
To think walking, will be knocking down our wall

Keep walking, but you won’t knock down our wall,
Keep walking, but it isn’t gonna fall,
It’s plain to see your brains are very small,
To think walking, will be knocking down our wall

It’s plain to see…….. Plain to see,
Your brains are very small,
To think walking, will be knocking down our wall

I think God wanted me to remind me that sometimes all we can do is keep walking. We may not understand or see the path we’re on. We’re tired and weary. Feeling lost, confused and alone. Our mountains seem so big, the trouble so deep and the pain fearfully intense. However if we stop walking how will we ever get past the mountain? We HAVE to keep walking. Walking with Christ. Yes the world would love us to believe that “our brains are very small”. How often as a believer have you been told you are close minded? The world sees us as small brained ninnies walking toward nothing. However we cannot worry about what the world thinks of us. We need only worry what God thinks of us. We have to keep our eyes up and focused on Him. If we keep walking toward Him we will knock down those walls. The world will then be forced to face the truth laying at their feet.

John 15:18-20 (NIV)
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.”

Keeping Walking Beloved!
