Wii Will Rock You!

I have never been into video games. That has always been my husband’s thing with the kids. However with all the hype I kept hearing about how people were losing weight with the Wii I figured this might be a fun way to exercise. I just loathe exercise but I need to lose weight so exercise is a must. So I asked my husband for a Wii for Christmas. He was shocked that I wanted something that was a video game. ;) He’s really supportive of my weight loss goals though and said, “If that will help you, I’ll get one for you.” Let’s not forget too this was a golden opportunity for the gamers in this house to get a new toy and blame it on Mom! LOL

I anxiously awaited the arrival of the Wii. Since they are in such high demand it took us till just last week to get one. (well and not pay thru the nose for it lol) Now that we have it I can see why people are losing weight. I was so sore after using it the first day! But the soreness didn’t matter because oh my gosh it is sooo much fun! I have been using it daily now to get in my exercise. I can play tennis, baseball and box all in one day if I want to! I can mix it up with so many options and no exercise boredom is the result. I love it!

I will add I’m not giving up on other forms of exercise. I’m still going to use the elliptical trainer, my treadmill, walks in my neighborhood and my Momentum intervals. I’m just throwing Wii into the mix. It’s nice to have another option in my weight loss journey.

I also came across a good article that talks about how we do need to be careful when using the Wii. It’s just a good reminder to have fun but be careful. It’s easy to forget someone is sitting too close when you are jumping all around. News

So if you’ve been thinking about getting a Wii I would say GO FOR IT! It’s a great investment and a lot of FUN for the WHOLE family.
