Holiday Mail

It’s that time of year again. Time to mail out the holiday cards. Whether you send out 10 or 100 would you think about sending even just one to someone in our military? Many of our service people will be far away from home this holiday season. Many do not have anyone to send them greetings. Please visit the following link and give a little hope and love to our troops.

Old Man Winter you can kindly exit stage right now…

I awoke today to see most of the snow is melted away. I have to admit I’m not upset. I’m not really a winter gal. It could be here to make Christmas pretty and then go away on Dec 26th. ;)

I hope that little groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, doesn’t see his shadow (or does I can never remember which one means early spring) on Saturday. I want spring to come early this year. We’ve had enough snow and cold thank you very much! Too bad it wasn’t that simple. No here in IL we are guaranteed to see plenty more snow clear into June. Ok now I’m exaggerating but it seems like winter lasts forevvverrrrr.

I just googled little Phil. I found the official website. (yes can you believe he’s got his own website?! lol) It has a great history of Phil’s very special day. If you are up at 6am CT on Saturday you can catch Phil’s prediction live on his website. Oh and if you are planning to visit the event live in PA don’t forget to arrive early for the shuttles! According to the website shuttle lines may exceed TWO hour wait time. Shuttles run from 3:00AM to 6:30AM.

Wow those are some dedicated people. If you’re one of them all the power to ya! To wait two hours in the wee hours of the morning to see a animal drug from it’s slumber…and just sit there. I mean Phil doesn’t even put on a show or anything?! Come on where are the laser lights and floor show?! If I’m going to miss a good night’s sleep and stand in the freezing cold to see a groundhog sit … somebody better be paying me mucho dinero. Remember I do NOT like winter…so this winter event would not be my thing. I would be Bill Murray in the movie, Groundhog Day. His lack of enthusiasm would be me to a capital T. (I love that movie!)

I’ll just check good ole’ Phil’s website when I get up at 9am from a goodnight’s sleep in my nice warm bed. I’ll sit by the fireplace toasty warm, with a hot cup of tea…ahhh. Yeah that’s the way to find out if it was cloudy or not in PA on February 2nd. ;)

Now I know I’m giving poor Phil and the residents of Punxsutawney a hard time. It’s all meant in good fun. All over our amazing country there are other cities that have their own odd claim to fame. It’s what makes America such a great place to live. We have freedom to celebrate with a little groundhog if we want to…or not. We have freedom to go visit the biggest ball of twine or the Hog Capitol of the World if we so choose. Yes indeed it’s a great country to live in.

So if visiting Punxsutawney is your thing…embrace it! Go have a great time. Enjoy life while you can! The Bible says our time is but a vapor. (James 4:14) See the sights of our beautiful country and make sure to post about it on your blog. Then leave me a comment so I can see it too! Share the beauty of what God created…no matter how odd it may be. ;) LOL

Wow this post took a strange turn huh? I start talking about how I dislike winter and it turns to how beautiful our country is. God sure can gently remind us to be thankful in many different ways can’t he?! I can almost hear His soft chuckle… ;)
